SILICONE RUBBER HEATERS
IMPROVE HEAT TRANSFER, SPEED WARM UPS AND DECREASE WATTAGE REQUIREMENTS
Watlow silicone rubber heaters are rugged, yet thin, lightweight and flexible. Use of these heaters is limited only by the imagination. Heat can be put where it is needed. These silicone heaters improve heat transfer, speed warm ups, and decrease wattage requirements.
Fiberglass-reinforced silicone rubber gives the heater dimensional stability without sacrificing flexibility. Because very little material separates the element from the part, heat transfer is rapid and efficient. The silicone rubber heaters are constructed with a wire-wound element or an etched foil element. The heater construction creates a very thin heater allowing it to fit applications where space is limited.
- Designed to the exact shape and size needed which conforms to the component and/or equipment
- More than 80 designs available immediately from stock reduces downtime
- Constructed with wire-wound or etched foil elements provides the desired flexibility for many dynamic applications and delivers low mass and easily repeatable distributed watt densities
- Moisture and chemical-resistant silicone rubber material provides longer heater life
- Vulcanizing adhesives or fasteners allows heaters to be easily bonded to parts

375 FINNED STRIP HEATERS
EFFICIENTLY CONDUCTS HEAT FROM NICKEL-CHROME ELEMENT WIRE TO THE SHEATH
Watlow’s 375 finned strip heaters are constructed of highly-compacted MgO-based insulation, which conducts heat efficiently from the nickel chromium element wire to the sheath. Two-inch wide (51 mm) aluminized steel fins are attached in a way that maximizes surface contact so heat is transferred into the air faster. Lower sheath temperature and element life are all maximized by this finned construction.
Finned strip heaters com in available lengths from 5 1⁄2 to 48 in. (140 to 1220 mm).
- Nickel chromium element wire is centered for heat uniformity
- Aluminized steel sheath operates at higher temperatures and reduces corrosion
- Optional 430 SS sheath provides a solution for extreme corrosive environments
- Welded post terminals produces strong connections

375 HIGH-TEMPERATURE STRIP HEATERS
RUGGED HEATER CAPABLE OF HIGH TEMPERATURES AND HIGH WATT DENSITIES
Named for its 0.375 in. (9.5 mm) thickness, the rugged Watlow 375 strip heater is capable of both high temperatures and high watt densities.
Watlow begins construction by accurately placing a coiled, nickel-chromium element wire in the center of the heater. The element wire is then embedded in magnesium oxide (MgO)-based insulation compacted into a solid mass creating excellent heat conductivity and high dielectric strength. The heater is then enclosed in aluminized steel or 430 stainless steel sheathing.
- Nickel-chromium element wire is centered in the heater assures uniform heat
- Aluminized steel sheath operates at higher temperatures and resists corrosion
- Optional 430 stainless steel sheath meets temperature requirements that reach up to 1200°F (650°C)
- Over 100 in-stock models in popular sizes and ratings for next-day shipment
- UL® approved to 240VAC (File No. E52951) and CSA approved to 600VAC (File No. LR7392)

CERAMIC FIBER HEATERS
THE BETTER FURNACE TECHNOLOGY HEATER
Ceramic fiber heaters offer some of the highest temperature heating element capabilities in the Watlow family of heaters. Heating units constructed of ceramic fiber insulation isolate the heating chamber from the outside. Ceramic fiber heaters are extremely low mass, high insulation value units with self-supported heating elements. Many applications can benefit from the convenience of the heating element and insulation combined into one package. Its lightweight, low-density properties make it ideally suited for high temperature applications requiring low thermal mass.
- High temperature ICA resistance elements bounds integrally into required position
- Lightweight, low-density alumina-silica composition molded into shape ensures a firm, thermal shock resistant, self-supporting unit at all operating temperatures
- Operating temperatures up to 2200°F (1204°C) provides high-temperature performance not possible with many other heater types
- Low mass ceramic fiber insulation allows the heater to reach process temperature quickly, efficiently heating the load instead of itself
- Works directly off common power line voltages eliminating the need for expensive transformers or complex power control systems

DIN-A-MITE®
SCR POWER CONTROLLER DELIVERS UP TO 100 AMPERES IN A SMART PACKAGE
The DIN-A-MITE® D silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) power controller provides an inexpensive, versatile product for controlling heat in an efficient package. This SCR controller is designed and manufactured with the quality features expected from Watlow. The back panel mounting matches the footprint of the industry standard mercury displacement relay. There is no need to worry about mercury; the DIN-A-MITE controller is mercury free.
The DIN-A-MITE Style D is capable of zero-cross switching up to 100 amperes single-phase, at 600VAC at 86°F (30°C), depending on the model selected. Two or three controllers used together can control three-phase. It is totally touch-safe and includes standard back panel mounting, on-board semiconductor fuses (accessible from the front) and a current transformer option for external load current monitoring. An optional “shorted SCR detector” feature is available on some models. This model is UL®508 listed and C-UL®and CE certified. These agency approvals are ideal for those panel builders that require agency approvals on their panels and cabinets.
Variable time base, 4-20mA process control, or VAC/VDC input contactor options are available. All configurations are model number dependent and factory selectable. This power controller also includes 200KA short circuit current rating (SCCR) tested up to 480VAC to prevent arch flash with required fusing.

E-SAFE
POWER SWITCHING AT HIGH AMPERAGE AND HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES
The E-SAFE® II hybrid power switch provides reliable and accurate power switching up to 35 amperes at 158°F (70°C). This mercury-free product is specifically designed to operate in the higher ambient temperatures of foodservice applications.
The use of mercury in relays is being eliminated by regulations in the United States and around the world. The E-SAFE II is the best choice for replacing mercury relay switches and the best performing product at the most economical price. Because of the product’s unique design, there is no need to purchase costly heat sinks used with traditional solid state relays (SSRs). In addition, since this is a three-phase device, there is no need to wire multiple command signals. With a switching life of millions of cycles and an ambient rating of 158°F (70°C), with no heat sink required, this product is superior to typical SSRs.
The E-SAFE II hybrid power switch provides foodservice operators with longer contact life and higher performance than typical mechanical contactors used in equipment. By using Watlow’s patent NO-ARC technology, the E-SAFE II can switch millions of cycles to increase the life of the product with reduced noise and increased temperature accuracy. E-SAFE II’s inherent ability to operate at fast cycle times make it an ideal complimentary product for a time, proportional, integral derivative (PID)controller.
E-SAFE II is mercury free, RoHS compliant by design, CE approved and C-UL®/UL® recognized. The reliability of the product is protected by a two-year warranty.
