375 FINNED STRIP HEATERS
EFFICIENTLY CONDUCTS HEAT FROM NICKEL-CHROME ELEMENT WIRE TO THE SHEATH
Watlow’s 375 finned strip heaters are constructed of highly-compacted MgO-based insulation, which conducts heat efficiently from the nickel chromium element wire to the sheath. Two-inch wide (51 mm) aluminized steel fins are attached in a way that maximizes surface contact so heat is transferred into the air faster. Lower sheath temperature and element life are all maximized by this finned construction.
Finned strip heaters com in available lengths from 5 1⁄2 to 48 in. (140 to 1220 mm).
- Nickel chromium element wire is centered for heat uniformity
- Aluminized steel sheath operates at higher temperatures and reduces corrosion
- Optional 430 SS sheath provides a solution for extreme corrosive environments
- Welded post terminals produces strong connections
-
375 HIGH-TEMPERATURE STRIP HEATERS
RUGGED HEATER CAPABLE OF HIGH TEMPERATURES AND HIGH WATT DENSITIES
Named for its 0.375 in. (9.5 mm) thickness, the rugged Watlow 375 strip heater is capable of both high temperatures and high watt densities.
Watlow begins construction by accurately placing a coiled, nickel-chromium element wire in the center of the heater. The element wire is then embedded in magnesium oxide (MgO)-based insulation compacted into a solid mass creating excellent heat conductivity and high dielectric strength. The heater is then enclosed in aluminized steel or 430 stainless steel sheathing.
- Nickel-chromium element wire is centered in the heater assures uniform heat
- Aluminized steel sheath operates at higher temperatures and resists corrosion
- Optional 430 stainless steel sheath meets temperature requirements that reach up to 1200°F (650°C)
- Over 100 in-stock models in popular sizes and ratings for next-day shipment

CERAMIC FIBER HEATERS
THE BETTER FURNACE TECHNOLOGY HEATER
Ceramic fiber heaters offer some of the highest temperature heating element capabilities in the Watlow family of heaters. Heating units constructed of ceramic fiber insulation isolate the heating chamber from the outside. Ceramic fiber heaters are extremely low mass, high insulation value units with self-supported heating elements. Many applications can benefit from the convenience of the heating element and insulation combined into one package. Its lightweight, low-density properties make it ideally suited for high temperature applications requiring low thermal mass.
- High temperature ICA resistance elements bounds integrally into required position
- Lightweight, low-density alumina-silica composition molded into shape ensures a firm, thermal shock resistant, self-supporting unit at all operating temperatures
- Operating temperatures up to 2200°F (1204°C) provides high-temperature performance not possible with many other heater types
- Low mass ceramic fiber insulation allows the heater to reach process temperature quickly, efficiently heating the load instead of itself
- Works directly off common power line voltages eliminating the need for expensive transformers or complex power control systems

Coiled Cable Heaters
Coiled cable heaters are the ultimate design in coiled type heaters. Their design and technical development gives them a longer lifespan than the competition, due to special features including:
-
ECO-HEAT® SYSTEM
WATLOW’S ECO-HEAT SYSTEM FOR DIESEL GENERATORS UP TO 9L
Low exhaust gas temperatures (resulting from low load or low ambient conditions) can compromise the performance of your diesel generator’s aftertreatment system and eventually lead to unplanned downtime and expensive repairs. Whether your aftertreatment configuration has a DPF, an SCR or just a DOC, Watlow’s ECO-HEAT system delivers reliable electric heat that can quickly raise the exhaust gas temperature to the correct level.
Designed to be installed in the exhaust pipe, the ECO-HEAT system places heat directly where it is needed. It uses electricity from your diesel generator to operate when exhaust gas temperatures are too low. Unlike an external load bank that requires additional space and wastes heat to the surrounding environment, the ECO-HEAT system is compact and efficient. You can think of it as a smart internal load bank for your diesel generator. When you place a higher load demand on your generator, the ECO-HEAT system will shut off as the engine exhaust temperature reaches an acceptable threshold.
- Reduce fuel consumption by over 50 percent as compared to an external load bank
- Enables passive diesel particulate filter (DPF) to regenerate more effectively
- Avoid unplanned downtime and expensive service calls
- Eliminate the need for an external load bank
- Place exhaust heat exactly where it is needed

FINBAR™ SINGLE- ENDED HEATERS
DESIGNED TO IMPROVE HEAT TRANSFER TO THE AIR
Composed of aluminized steel fins press-fitted to a one-inch single-ended FIREBAR element, the FINBAR finned tubular heater is designed to improve heat transfer to the air and permits putting more power in tighter spaces—like forced air ducts, dryers, ovens and load bank resistors.
Heat transfer, lower sheath temperature and element life are all maximized by the FINBAR heater’s finned construction. Installation is simplified by terminations exiting at one end and mounting accommodations on both ends.
- Rugged aluminized steel fins increase surface area to improve heat transfer to air
- Single-ended termination simplifies wiring and installation
- Stainless steel mounting bracket for ease of installation
- Lavacone seals provides protection against humid storage conditions – moisture retardant to 221°F (105°C)
-
FIREBAR® SINGLE/DOUBLE-ENDED HEATERS
FIREBAR heating elements provide added heating performance over standard round tubular heating elements—especially for immersion applications in petroleum-based liquids requiring high kilowatts.
The FIREBAR’s unique flat surface geometry packs more power in shorter elements and assemblies, along with a host of other performance improvements. These include:
-Minimizing coking and fluid degrading
-Enhancing the flow of fluid past the element’s surface to carry heat from the sheath
-Improving heat transfer with a significantly larger boundary layer allowing much more liquid to flow up and across the sheath’s surface
FIREBAR elements are available in single- and double-ended constructions with one inch or 5⁄8 inch heights. These two configuration variables make it possible to use FIREBAR elements instead of round tubular elements in virtually all applications.FINBAR is a special version of the one inch, single-ended FIREBAR. FINBAR is specially modified with fins to further increase surface area for air and gas heating applications.
- 70 percent greater surface area per linear inch compared to a 0.430 in. (11 mm) diameter round tubular heater
- Compacted MgO insulation maximizes thermal conductivity and dielectric strength
- Precision wound nickel-chromium resistance wires
- 0.040 in. (1 mm) thick MgO walls transfer heat more efficiently
- Three resistance coil design readily adapts to a variety of electrical sources and wattages outputs
